Hunter Whalen 
Sports Journalism and Multimedia Journalism Student 

Introduction

During my three years at Arizona State University, after transferring from the University of Nevada, Reno in the spring of 2022, I have gained extensive experience in sports journalism and media production. Early on, I covered ASU spring football practices, which allowed me to develop my reporting and storytelling skills while gaining firsthand experience in sports coverage. I later interned as both a journalist and a videographer, honing my ability to capture compelling stories through writing and video production. Currently, I am an intern for the Sun Devil Radio Network, where I contribute to media production, assisting with broadcasts and behind-the-scenes work to help deliver high-quality coverage of ASU athletics. Additionally, I have helped record postgame ASU men's basketball press conferences, capturing footage of the head coach and players throughout the season to provide media outlets with high-quality content.

Through these experiences, I have developed strong technical skills in media production, particularly in video editing and digital storytelling. As a sports journalism major, I have become proficient in using Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing, allowing me to create professional-grade content for broadcasts and online platforms. Additionally, I have experience with other media tools, including audio editing software and camera operation, which have enhanced my ability to produce engaging multimedia stories. My ability to adapt quickly to different production roles and collaborate within a media team has been instrumental in my growth as a journalist, preparing me for a career in sports media.
